Emerging Markets Monitor
For over 17 years BMI's award-winning team of analysts and economists has been providing authoritative, independent asset class forecasts for the emerging markets - Asia Pacific, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS, the Middle East and Africa.

Asia
In October 12 edition of Emerging Markets Monitor - 'Kospi Set To Weather The Storm' - our analysts forecast that with the Kospi trading at 520, it was felt that Korea was relatively insulated from external pressures. As such EMM predicted the stock market would rally to 550. The market flew through 550 at the beginning of November 2001.

In 19 November 2001 edition of Emerging Markets Monitor - 'Korean Equities' - our analysts forecast that the next resistance level was 630, a break of which would trigger further upside to 750. By 5 December 2001 the market was at 700.

Europe
In 16 November edition of Emerging Markets Monitor - 'RTS At Risk From Oil Strategy' - our analysts forecast that having fallen rapidly from a high of 243 on the back of a sliding oil price, there were fears of a severe sell-off in the Russian stock market to below 200. EMM predicted the sell-off would halt in the 210-212 area, suggesting that investors buy at or just above those levels. The market bounced off 212 on November 16 to trade back to 236 at the start of Dec 2001.
